March 23, 2022

Spelman Community,

Spring is in full swing, and we hope you are having a productive working or learning experience. As we approach the final stretch of the spring semester, we want you to know that campus health and safety continues to be a top priority. Our current positivity rate is 0.70% and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) classifies our county community level as low.

However, please be mindful of the following information:

  • Effective March 23, 2022, outdoor masking is optional. However, you can choose to mask outdoors at any time.

  • Masking indoors is still required (except in residential rooms, personal offices, or when actively eating food or drinking beverages).

  • Stay up to date with COVID vaccination by receiving the recommended primary series and one booster dose when eligible.

  • Practice proper hand and respiratory hygiene by washing your hands frequently and covering coughs/sneezes.

  • Show personal responsibility by staying away from campus if you feel sick or have COVID symptoms.

  • Stay informed on county and campus COVID community levels and prevention steps to take based on the latest CDC data.

As we begin to safely host events on campus again, we hope this update finds your spirits lifted. Thank you for all you continue to do to keep yourselves and our community protected.

Regards,

Yemi Brown, PharmD
