We are pleased to provide an update regarding the search for the 11th President of Spelman College.
The Presidential Search Committee (PSC) has successfully
completed the first phases of the search, which included planning and organizing the process, developing the Leadership Profile, and recruiting a strong and diverse prospective candidate pool.
After screening and evaluating more than 300 prospects and nominations, the PSC has narrowed the applicant pool, based on the criteria
as set forth in the Leadership Profile that many of you helped to shape, and begun engaging with many promising candidates.
As we have previously shared about this stage of the process, while applicants are all very enthusiastic about Spelman, they have stressed the need for confidentiality. We share their concerns and agree that guarding their privacy and protecting the integrity of the process are of the utmost importance.
These early conversations with potential candidates give us the confidence that we
will be able to recommend to the Board of Trustees a proven candidate(s) with the requisite knowledge, skills, experiences, intelligence and passion to sustain and elevate a top-ranked, HBCU, liberal arts institution during a critical time in a context that demands innovative, entrepreneurial, crisis, and collaborative leadership.
The process is running smoothly and we are on schedule to complete our work this semester. Thank you for your continued support and engagement.
