Spelman Community,

Keeping the community safe and prepared for emergencies continues to be the number one priority for our Public Safety team at Spelman College and our Atlanta University Center partners.

As campus partners, we would like to make you aware of an important recent training activity and future events that are being planned to help keep our community safe.

On Saturday, March 19, administrators, faculty and staff from across the Atlanta University Center community gathered for a virtual tabletop exercise and bomb threat training that included more than 100 other participants. Developed to be informative and relevant, the group sessions focused on emergency mitigation and response scenarios. In addition to the Atlanta Police Department, representatives from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security were in attendance.

This was the first of several tabletop exercises and trainings that are being planned over the coming months, as well as training sessions developed by the Spelman College Public Safety Department for staff, faculty and students.

We encourage all of our community partners to participate in the following virtual and in-person emergency training sessions, starting this week.
